Plastic form
The rotary microtomes Leica RM2245, Leica RM2255 and Leica RM2265 are designed mainly for sectioning hard and small specimens up to a size of 25 mm in diameter.

For the sectioning of plastic foils and softer plastics we recommend to use the semi-motorized Leica RM2245 with a step motor operated specimen advance and a smooth running manual operated handwheel.

Material: POM (clip), section thickness: 15 µm
The motor-driven rotary microtomes Leica RM2255 and Leica RM2265 are the instruments of choice to accomplish sectioning applications of harder industrial samples (rubber, elastomers, etc.) at temperatures down to -150 degrees Celcius using the Leica LN22 liquid nitrogen freezing attachment with one of the above mentioned microtomes. For these hard specimens, a very constant slow sectioning speed is required.

All of the above mentioned rotary microtomes are equipped with specimen retraction during the return stroke of the object head to the upper position. This feature is immensly important when sectioning plastic specimens to protect the specimen and the knife from damage.
